Of Chainsaws, Ethiopia and Disco Music
When someone asks "What can I do for you?" how do you respond?
A. Nothing, I'm fine.
B. I doubt YOU could really help ME.
C. I need a latte and someone to pick up my dry cleaning.
This is not one of those magazine-type quizzes where we analyze your personality type. I just want to open the discussion about offering and asking for service. Many of us have spent our lives being of service to others whether it's been developing software or asking "Do you want room for cream in your Yirgacheffe?"
But what happens when we go beyond that? What if your bank teller knew the best hotel in Boise? What if your neighbor could tutor your kids in math? The point is we all have resources that aren't always obvious to others.
So this is my offer to be of service however I can. I won't blow smoke if I don't know something, I'll try to find a resource for you. But I do know about subjects like international travel, pop music of the 1970s, how to use a chainsaw, wine and single malt scotch, basic car repair and maintenance, art and visual design, camping, personal finance, how to choose clothes and accessories, and much more.
