Hands On Investing With 4 Kids & How We Made it Work

Our investing careers started young with a growing family. Our First 8 years of marriage consisted of a new child being born or a new property being purchased. Our experience was memorable and has accelerated us to make more memories for the future. Looking back we are so grateful for the experiences we made learning the ins and outs of house hacking while being together as one happy family. If you know us you know where we shop. I don’t know how Costco does it but they are our go to destination for feeding a large family and quality fixtures/supplies around the house. We would go pick up milk for the kid and recessed lights for the house. Gogo squeezes, always in bulk when on sale along with new outlets. The bonus secret to Costco for home renovations is to buy when on sale, we have purchased faucets, smoke detectors, toilets, lights and more all on discount. The quality is backed by Costco and the products last.

Work Time & Family Time In Close Proximity

Some nights we would work late on the property but never worked too much without making sure there was quality time spent with the kids. If we had a long week of work we would make sure the weekend would be fun. Balance is huge. House hacking with a family allows for convenient balance being that you live in the property you are working on so we were never far from one another. We had close proximity to what matters most in our life; our children and our assets.  

Make Memories

That's really what life comes down to, making great memories. We had a great time in all of our house hacks. Our children miss the “old house” as they now call them. From playing hide and go seek in 4 empty levels of duplex to teaching our children why we are doing what we are doing. Moving property to property was an exciting adventure. Moving to a new property with kids is like going on vacation, everyone from newborn to parents were excited for the next journey.
