4 Important Criteria To Select a Tech-Savvy Real Estate Agent

Technology touches nearly every part of our lives. We wake up to the sound of our iPhone buzzing on the nightstand beside us. We manage our day via Google calendar. We keep up with friends and family via social media.

It only makes sense, then, that we'd want a tech-savvy real estate agent to help us get the edge on our investment properties.

How can you ensure you’re working with a tech-savvy agent? Here’s our list of key criteria to consider when making your selection:

#1 Online Presence

Your agent’s online presence is of particular importance if you’re selling a. Do a quick Google search for your agent – do they come up? How about if you search for homes for sale in your area? As a seller, if you can’t even find your agent’s online presence (or their houses) with a quick online search how easy will it be for potential buyers to find your property?

#2 Website Capabilities

Being able to find your agent online is only the first step. Once you are on their website, is it easy to use? Can you tailor your search to find just the types of properties that you want? Real estate agents who are tech- savvy will have a website that not only enables you to easily find what you are looking for, but will also include video tours, high quality images, and plenty of ways to engage with potential buyers.

#3 Social Media Prowess

We’re a socially engaged society. When searching for a tech-savvy agent, consider their social media prowess. We’re not talking about ‘liking’ baby pictures or sharing viral cat videos. Look for agents who are socially engaged in the real estate industry – staying abreast of trends and news. Are they sharing information on the community or new listings that would attract buyers to your community? Social media alone doesn’t sell houses, but it is a great tool in any agent’s arsenal.

#4 Communication Methods

Whether buying or selling, nothing is worse than an agent who doesn’t communicate well. What are your preferred methods of communication? Email? Text? How easy is it for you to get in touch with the agent? How long did it take for them to respond to your inquiry? Communication often becomes more effective and timely when agents are tech-savvy, so watch for signs that they can communicate via your preferred method.

Becoming a top agent requires tech-savvy, relevant experience with performance indicators such as sales volume, recent activity, success rates, time-on-market data and more. Make sure yours has it all.
