Selling your home in the Winter Market

In today's video, I talk about selling your home in the winter market. I made this video because I have a few clients that are on the fence about selling their home in the winter and they think that the market is dead in the winter. WHile the winter can be slower at times, the data shows that the winter market produces a healthy amount of transactions.

The mindset of most sellers is to wait until the springtime to sell your house, but by having your home on the market in the winter you have less competition and are exposed to buyers actively in the market.

Having your home staged for winter time showings is crucial to successfully selling your home. I have highlighted a few tips that I implement when selling a home in the winter:

1) Have the heat on so that the home is warm and comfortable. The last thing you want is the potential buyer being cold and uncomfortable in your house - they will be ready to leave the home right away to get warm

2) Remove snow and ice from your driveway and walkways. You don't want the buyer to have to dredge through the snow just to see your house. It is unsafe and doesn't help your curb appeal if the house doesn't have easy access.

3) If the weather permits, powerwash the house to remove dirt from the siding

4) If you have a fireplace or wood burning stove, light a fire during the showing so it gives off heat and shows the buyer how comfortable and cozy the house is with the fireplace.

5) Show the home during the day time
