About me...

I'm an average suburban father in a family of 4. I am the sole bread winner for the family and we live our lives like any typical American family. However, there is one exception to my otherwise typical life… I plan to retire in 10 years by the age of 40.

How, you ask? Surely I must have a rich, dying uncle. Or a high power job as a CEO. Maybe I robbed a bank. As exciting as all of those stories would be, the truth is a little more boring. I go to work, we save money, make investments, and limit spending. Seriously, that’s it. Sounds impossible, right?

It’s not. Follow along with me as I share our story and our strategies. We have 10 years to build up enough of a nest egg to last us the rest of our lives, not to mention care for our children and send them to college. It’s going to be a wild ride, but I'm thrilled to be on this journey. After all, who wants to spend their entire lives working, only to retire when you’re too old to enjoy life? I want that lifestyle now! I want to travel and show my children the world, wake up at noon, spend weekdays on the boat with my wife, and do…whatever I want!

And I believe its all possible through real estate!

  1. Hey Jae,

I don't have a freedom number in the terms of a lump sum.  I am mainly focused on monthly cash flow.  Our plan is to combine the cash flow from rentals with moving to a cheaper part of the country.  We believe the combination of the two will make the dream possible.

I am currently investing in single family homes in the Denver area but we have considered expanding the radius of our investments.

What about you?  How do you plan on achieving the goal?

  2. I feel like you and I are on the same path! I too have aspirations to retire by the time I am 40 years old. I have about 10 years to achieve this goal and I believe with steady work and dedication it will be achieved!

So questions....Have you discovered your "Freedom Number" yet? and what type of real estate are you looking to invest in?
