Hoss Pratt : New Era , Same Industry

Why do people think that the Real Estate Industry is solely dependent on how the economy is going? Why does everything have to be dependent on economy? Can one industry not stand alone, independent of external factors? Is it possible for the Real Estate Industry to function autonomously without the direct influence of the economy? Hoss Pratt believes so. In my interview with someone who was able to produce more than $20 million dollars in sales during his first 3 years in the Real Estate Industry, my belief that nothing is impossible, has been fortified.

Hoss-Pratt

Hoss Pratt left his life as a dairy farmer and plunged into the Real Estate world with no reservations. He was committed and was determined to succeed. Who said that it takes a lot of time to succeed in the Real Estate Industry? During his 10 year stay in the business, Hoss Pratt has been THE nationally recognized real estate expert when it comes to getting a “Yes” from difficult people. In my short conversation with Mr. Pratt, three things caught my attention. First is Passion. A man with Passion for his work, his career, will get more results out of real estate than any other trainer in the country. Passion is the driving force for this person, not just the passion for real estate but the passion to succeed. Because of this passion, Hoss Pratt has moved real estate agents from stuck to super-charged in just months...changing lives and changing fortunes. Second item that caught my attention is Hoss Pratt believes that “It doesn’t matter what happens out there in the marketplace, you are your own market, you are an entrepreneur, you are your own economy.” This is true. No matter what happens to the economy, people still need homes, people still need houses. It is one of the most basic in Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs – Home, Security, and Shelter. There are a lot of competition out there, yes. But the truth is, you should only be competing with yourself and your previous performance. If you want to be successful, start thinking the way successful people think. Successful people think about how they can outperform their previous benchmark. They don’t think about what others are doing because they are busy thinking about continuous improvement. When Hoss Pratt said “I believe that the new era of real estate agents is the agent that produces and presents the best content and best educates and trains the consumers” he got me, hook, bait and all. I wanted to know more about this concept. How does one train consumers? How does one educate them? Apparently, the answer to these questions of mine was a tad bit simple – Technology. Hoss Pratt utilized technology to reach out to the consumers; smart move, cost efficient and practical. You can reach out to a lot of people using Facebook and other social media compared to flyers and print ads that real estate agents used to distribute. The only question that remains is how to be effective in using one of the most powerful tools a real estate agent can have at his disposal.

Technology offers a lot of avenues to improve exposure and thereby increase sales and profits. But first, you have to engage your customers – your prospects. You have to identify your target market and make sure that you address them accordingly. This is where educating the customers come in. Hoss Pratt is a fan of webinars. Through webinars, you can impart knowledge and information to a multitude of customers from different walks of life. He has a Buyer Webinar, a Seller Webinar and even Recruiting. Hoss Pratt has mastered Digital Presentation and has made it a mission to share this to the Real Estate World. Whoever presents the best content online gets to have more customers. In order to reach out to more customers, you have to know your audience. You have to keep in mind that there are over 845 million Facebook users and at any given day, more than 50% of these users log in to check their accounts. There are also more than 350 million users who access Facebook through their mobile phones, which means a lot more people have instant access to their accounts. Whatever you post, whatever you share, is automatically being proliferated. People have access to information like never before and all agents can get to capitalize on this. All you need to do is stand out.

Of course the more conventional means of information dissemination is still available, however, with an option like this, people will be bound to switch gears to a more practical, cost efficient and effective marketing strategy. Technology has branched out from the confines of the economy’s status and has blurred the boundaries of distance. Almost everyone has access to technology. So, can the Real Estate Industry function autonomously without any direct influence from the country’s economy? The answer is “Yes.” With all the changes that have been going on around us, we have an opportunity to become our own marketplace, our own entrepreneur, and our own economy.
