High Drama Enacted Inside Foreclosed House
High drama is enacted inside a foreclosed house. A borrower is pleading for bank’s help through a hole in the front window. Keith Sadler is drawing attention to not only his plight but of many others in the same situation who are defaulting on their dues.
He is not asking for much – a little bit of assistance and understanding. The only big demand is to switch off foreclosures and attendant evictions. Meanwhile Sadler in his early fifties said that he would not leave the house that has been his since the past 12 years. He has been residing here for the last two decades.
He said, “ Even though on paper and legally it’s no longer my house, I still consider this my home and I refuse to be kicked out by a greedy bank that is only interested in its bottom line.” Sadler was being interviewed over the phone.
According to the orders of the Sheriff of Wood County Sadler should have vacated the premises on Stony Ridge. Ohio, by midnight of 3rd May. But the Toledo Foreclosure Defense League members helped to seal him in. He had co-founded this group. His only means of communicating with the outside world is through a cell phone and the hole in the window.
Sadler said, “I hate touting the Obama plan, but it’s a plan based on a percentage of income you make and the bank has to work out an interest rate that allows you to make payments. I’m not looking for a free ride. I’m not looking for the bank to just let me have the house, but to work with me.”
Out in the yard camped other group members carrying placards that read, “Bail out people not banks”. Some were sitting on the branches of nearby trees while others hung around the front porch.
One of the avid supporters of this drama is Brian Siefke who is a member of two organizations – Toledo Foreclosure Defense League and Black Swamp Autonomist Collective. He said, “I think this is an important issue not just for local but for national dialogue. It’s a symptom of an economic crisis I think people should pay attention to, and I support people taking things into their own hands.”
Max Rameau of Take Back the Land, another group of Florida was also present. His organization wants to spread the message of “community control of land and housing as a human right.”

This is happening over and over. Someone needs to step in and take away the awful power of others to steal your own home right out from under you!
