What SKYPE can do for you...

An e-mail dialogue may work, but a video call could be a lot more personal and informative. The best part of this technology is that it can be FREE! The system is known as “SKYPE” and can be accessed at skype.com where you can download the program. Your basic need is a computer with a camera (or a separate camera that can be hooked up to the computer). After downloading the free program, you can then potentially video call anyone else in the world through their e-mail address (which you put into the SKYPE directory) and their computer and camera. This is a tremendous advantage for businesses around the world because of the ease and speed of communicating face-to-face. It is also ideal for families to keep in touch, and for those fortunate enough to live in Southwest Florida to show off their tans.

  1. I use Skype as my main home phone line and also in my business, You can actually buy a phone number and physical phones that use the skype protocol .

  4. You can turn your camera off, James. As for getting over being on "film," it is probably time to get used to it . . . the era of video calls is here to stay.

  5. I will have to look into Skype! Thanks for the info. I must agree that alot of emotion is lost or misplaced in emails. The way one takes an email really relies on the mmod of the reader. (I know that I have "read" things into an email, simple due to the mood I was in.) Here is my only question, I really do not like to be filmed, how do you get over that fact?
