Educate Yourself and Discounts to Save You Money!

One of the things I truly believe in is the importance of self education. There are many Real Estate 'gurus' selling products to teach and guide you on how to invest and what to invest in. Should it be a turnkey property? Should it be fix and flips? Should it be wholesaling? All of these options and others are valuable topics to learn about for real estate investing. However, there are so many other areas  you need to have knowledge of including systems that need to be put in place, the least expensive places to find discounts for materials or the best way to meet contractors.

There are numerous questions that you will have when you get started. Should you have Workmen's Comp insurance? What documents do you need to go through with certain deals? Today, I want to recommend two things to new investors. The first one is to network with other people who are doing what you want to do. Nothing is more important than having a brain trust of a group of people that you respect and want to emulate. These people should be willing to share ideas and show you what's been successful for them. In every case you will find at least one good nugget of information you can walk away with. Sub-group meetings with your local REIA clubs and meet-ups are great options. There are so many of them out there so take advantage of what is around you. It is the least expensive education you'll ever get.

My second recommendation is to check out eBay for coupons. Before you walk into Lowe's or Home Depot, go to eBay and see what coupons they have available and use them along with your pro discount card that you should have at Home Depot or your Lowe's pro discount card that you should have at Lowe's. The discounts can really make a huge difference on your bottom line.
