Posted over 3 years ago Never Turn It Off - Real Estate Investing I love everything about the business of real estate investing. The art of the deal is a continual challenge and watching others become successful is an incredible high for me.My kids laugh at me when I drive down the street and light up at the sight of a “for sale” sign on a strangers house or see a new multifamily under construction. I had to laugh at myself when I was in Jamaica recently and contemplated inquiring on a fixer upper. It never stops for me. Even at church the other week I was talking to a friend about his car business and how he finances cars in-house. I wondered how that could relate to my financing. I met him and his partner for breakfast the next weekend to discuss his desire to help people get off the title loan and check cashing merry-go-round. Bottom-line, I am naturally networking 24/7. The larger you grow your network the more successful you will be. Networking brings you a plethora of opportunities and allows you to give back. I am constantly amazed at how many people follow events on sites like Meetup.com. I facilitate a faith-based investor group that meets every Friday morning for devotion, breakfast and teachings on real estate. The business and education that flows through the group that has grown to about 60 attendees is unbelievable in quality and depth. I also speak at various subgroups and am always impressed by the amount of people who learn about these groups through a meetup group email. Get your feelers out there and get involved in order to build your network - it's that easy. Develop a one or two sentence “elevator speech” that encompasses what you do for a living so you can share it with others at every event you attend. It took me about 30 minutes to come up with the right one, but I decided on this; “I help people build wealth through real estate. I provide money to experienced rehabbers by using other people’s self directed IRAs, cash and investment money and pay double digit returns to lenders.” Think about it - what is the hook that will get someone’s attention?Even in line at the grocery store, always be ready, always carry business cards, and always think of how you can help others. The blessings come back tenfold.
