Keller Williams Concert Goers Shake, Rattle and Roll at Kings Harbor

There was a chill in the air at last Friday night's Concert at , but the audience kept warm dancing, twisting and saluting to the oldies music of Shake Rattle & Roll.

The four ladies in the group from East Texas performed dressed in poodle skirts, saddle shoes and initial jackets reminiscent of Laverne and Shirley.  Not only did they look the part, they sure could harmonize the classic hits from the ‘50s and '60s, often sounding just like the original artists.  In fact, if you kept your eyes closed when they sang "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree", you would have sworn it was Brenda Lee on stage.

The quartet of LeAnn Bemis, her sister Tavie Spivey, Brenda Spencer and Kathy Sutton got the crowd on its feet right away, opening the show with the "Star Spangled Banner".  That was followed up with their namesake song "Shake, Rattle & Roll" with poodle skirts swinging to the beat.  "Rock ‘n' Robin" and "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" were next on the list.  But the show-stopper was the final song in the set: "The Twist".  The Kingwood crowdpacked the dance floor, while Bemis hula hooped around them for the entire song.

Before introducing the charities for the evening, Senior Team Leader Lisa Dempsey thanked the for putting on the free monthly concert for the community. She then introduced Ed LaCour from Kingwood Youth Lacrosse and the Kingwood Lacrosse Club, accompanied by his son Daniel sporting a lacrosse uniform and equipment.  Sam Phillips spoke for the Kingwood Ladies Lacrosse team.  The lacrosse girls sold raffle tickets at the concert, with one lucky person in attendance going home with $500.

Shake Rattle & Roll bopped on stage for the second set, singing "Lollipop" and handing out candy to the kids. Spencer, the comedian in the group, dedicated the next song "Get a Job" to her grandson.  They upped the tempo with "Great Balls of Fire" and "Shout", then slowed it down with "One and Only You".  The kids in the crowd particularly enjoyed dancing around the amazing new "bubble" Christmas tree at the Harbor to the tunes "The Hop" and "Go Johnny Go".  The new holiday decorations at the Harbor with the white LCD lights dangling from all the trees made for a magical scene.

The Shake Rattle & Roll ladies ended the night with a salute to the military, singing the anthems of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.  During the final song "Proud to be an American", the ladies marched around the Plaza carrying American flags raised high.  That got the several hundred people who continued to brave the cold onto their feet again, waving their arms like they were carrying flags of their own.

Mark your calendars for the free Keller Williams Holiday Concert on Friday, Dec. 17, featuring music of the season by FEVER - The Ultimate Tribute Band.
