As a first time landlord, I was wondering if it was possible to use the tenants renters insurance to repair/replace appliances that have been damaged by the tenants? Or any other damages around the house for that matter...
Would love to hear back from those who are willing to share their knowledge!

Potentially you could. Renters insurance has coverage for tenant liability, so damages caused by the tenant should be covered by the renters insurance. It would have to be unintentional damages. Their kid writing on the walls is likely not going to be covered. Them forgetting to turn off the stove and it catching fire likely would be. The water line to the fridge leaking would likely be covered.
Keep in mind that even if the insurance company is willing to accept the liability, you may get very little back. Your stove that you paid $500 for 10 years ago may have a replacement value of $50 or nothing if the useful life of it has passed.
