Not only does it make the house appear larger but it also gives you the ability to put solid core 8 foot doors which I think is an ever bigger bang for the buck. 

This also puts the tenants in the position of just not reporting or addressing problems, which normally just turn into larger problems.

We are in a small town of 2700 outside a larger city.

Do not bid again if the larger increment pushes you beyond what you are prepared to pay.

All in all 2014 is looking great.  2015:  Possibly making the step up to mid level properties going for larger profits (200-400k ranges)
