I'm quite new to the concept or Real Estate, but very excited to have learned about the opportunity! During the day, I'm a trained Dietitian providing education and counseling to the community and for research at a major university. At night, however, I transform into a crazy info-hungry wannabe real estate investor! I fit a typical stereotype that I hear about on BP Podcasts. After almost 8 years of college, top of my class in many of my programs, I graduated with 30k in student loan debt with a low interest rate. Got me a job immediately making about 30k a year. Since then, I've moved up to my only real option: a 46k management position. I don't anticipate that it will go up much further unless I find a very different job. Not long after my management job set in, Cupid hit me with his dart and I met my wonderful wife. Unfortunately, some other evil force had tagged my wife with the dart of debt. I didn't realize it at the time, but she had massive credit card debt, as well as 75k student loan debt with some high interest rates. Worst of all, she didn't have a clearly defined path in college. With that 75k student loan debt, she got a completely unrelated job paying less than 30k. We have taken care of the credit card debt, but still owe a total of about 100k in student loans. There are other debts that family helped with, that I will not mention. If not for the kindness of family, we would be in a ship already sunk! Move to today. I've been exposed to Rich Dad Poor Dad, and I see the ONLY way we will ever get ahead of high interest rates. I truly believe that, in order to outlive our debts, I'm going to have to make some slick business deals in real estate. With a LOT of extra side-hustle, we have managed to save close to 10k. Now I'm trying to decide between buying a house, investing in rental properties, etc while also caring for an additional older family member.
