I am new to this Biggerpockets community, and hope to make this a home for my real estate curiosities. I've been managing my parents' 2 San Francisco properties for a couple decades. I grew up with immigrant parents who don't speak any English, raised 4 kids entirely through house-hacking and sound financial principles. My biggest accomplishment as the property manager and interpreter is to keep the properties with zero lawsuits, which is a rarity amongst SF landlords. My husband and I also own a rental property about an hour away, purchased through a short-sale at the tail end of the 2008 foreclosure craze, and love scoring a deal and love having it managed by a property management company. Unfortunately, because of the litigious risks of our rental market in San Francisco, CA, we have kept away from further real estate investing. Now that my parents are in their final years, I am hoping with the real estate instincts they've instilled in me, coupled with the tools through this community, and new territories I can step into, I can re-invest back towards their aging-in-place needs. A little scared, and a little excited.
