I'm a geospatial analyst in norther Virginia interested in real estate investing -- just bought a single-family home as our primary residence, planning on renovating it ourselves to build equity, while looking for further opportunities to purchase real estate, nation wide. I read "Rich Dad Poor Dad" at 18 -- and have wanted to get into real estate ever since, but I've been intimidated by the amount of capital I believed was required to start. I'm re-approaching things now with a renewed vision and determination. Hopefully we'll cross paths out there on the road to success. Experience: Worked as a real estate photographer for a mortgage company in Texas (one of the first to do 'virtual tours' using 360 photography technology -- and really got interested in doing real estate invest/ flipping. I have yet to purchase a property, but I'm looking forward to getting my real estate license, and building up capital for my first purchase -- learning as much as I can in the process. Real Estate Goals: I would like to build a portfolio of rentals to help provide income for my family and I to support our somewhat crazy goal of retiring before I turn 40 (we've crafted this plan after reading MrMoneyMustache.com, EarlyRetirementExtreme.com, and BraveNewLife.com) -- and since both my wife and I love real estate, this feels like a natural path to take. Our goal is to acquire a portfolio of properties that product $45000 in income annually, and our very own free and clear property, to support our debt-free retirement goal. Currently Seeking: Right now I am looking for ways to build capital -- whether through commissions as a licensed real estate agent (once I'm licensed), or as a 'bird dog' for other investors, learning to effectively analyze deals for when I have enough capital to start acquiring my own.
