Real Estate Investing: I currently own 7 doors which are a mix of LTRs, MTRs, primary residence and a property that family lives in for free. I purchased my first (mostly) turn-key property in Feb 2019 and turned it into an up/down duplex. I did short term rentals for many years which helped build the cashflow for my second property. In 2021 I bought my second duplex, which needed some work. I did a lot of cosmetic upgrades (new flooring, painting, fixtures, bathtub) to the second property and have more to go in the future. My third property is back in my hometown which I split the costs with my sister so our father can live (aka negative cashflow). In 2023 it was time to buy a proper "home" with a backyard (though I am super against those) and have a primary residence. I self manage all my homes including my husbands condo in Vancouver. I love screening tenants and finding wonderful people that can be a great addition to our homes. I got out of the STR game, not worth the money and hassle for this moment in my life. I would rather less return and more peace of mind. Since I am moving towards peace, not money I don't have an intention of buying a property in 2025 but am always open to the right opportunity. Nerdy Finance Side: I LOVE teaching about real estate and financial topics. I have been featured in many podcasts, CNBC's Make It Series, Business Insider and am always happy to talk about my journey to anyone who will listen. I have a very problematic part of my personality where I say "YES!" to new opportunities which has led me to host FinTalks Cruises, Scotland Castle adventures and most recently living in Mexico City for a few months while on maternity leave. FinTalks is where I host weekly money conversations with my community from all walks of life. Each week we talk about a different money or life topic and have expert guest speakers on topics like wills and trusts, healthcare costs, mediation and everything in between. Personal Life: I have two super cute kids and an amazing husband. I have recently decided to focus as much time as I can to hanging out with them because you only have small kids once. The hustle life always calls but I am attempting to turn a new leaf and enjoy the fruits of my labor. I'll get back to it in 2030.
