I am both a WI licensed real estate broker since 2004 and a real estate investor, doing both many rehabs/flips as well as owning rental properties for the long term, starting in 1999. I graduated from college in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in accounting, qualifying to take the CPA exam. I've been the GM for several successful restaurants and a bar and have worked as an accountant for several companies, both small and large, although I never had a strong desire for a career in public accounting. One thing I can say without a doubt is that I truly LOVE and enjoy this career choice! My first RE investing move was buying a great duplex in 1999, which also got me my first real experience in rehabbing work, as I totally redid both baths and many other parts of that duplex. RE was a part-time thing for me for the most part until early 2012, when I jumped in to it full time and its the best decision I've ever made! I've had unrelated jobs that I've really liked, others that were OK and a couple that were nearly unbearable, so truly loving my work is something wonderful! A normal day for me starts before 8am, planning out my day and then getting things done during "normal working hours" for my projects as well as my broker clients. After 5pm though, my work day is by no means done, not even close!!! I'll often be up until far past midnight, working on my computer doing research, following up on contacts, searching the mls for clients or occasionally myself. Yet, even on the many days that I'm literally working on RE investing matters from 8am until 2am or later, I NEVER go to bed feeling totally burnt out, like anyone would after pulling a 16 or 18 hour shift at a job that they didn't truly LOVE!!!! I got back into RE investing, this time full-time in 2012 and absolutely love doing it!
