Casual real estate investor hoping to learn a few things as I slowly build a larger portfolio of lifestyle investment properties. Experience: Purchased a duplex as an investment property in New Jersey in 2016 and another vacation property in Lake Harmony, PA in 2018. I’ve been house hacking my primary residence for a few months, but am looking to acquire another property in Philadelphia to live-in-flip and rent out our current house. Real Estate Goals: Use real estate investing to enhance lifestyle design, while supplementing our income in retirement. We want a few investments that we can derive joy from before retirement (i.e. beach vacations at our rental property, mountain vacations at another rental property, etc.) while still having other folks pay off the cost of ownership. We don't have kids yet, but we plan to use rental real estate as a vehicle for savings for our future kids so that they have options and are not trapped exclusively in a 529 plan if they decide they don't want to go to college or want an alternative lifestyle.
