I worked in investment management for almost 20 years analyzing companies and making buy/sell recommendations on stocks and bonds. I started investing in real estate early. But it was small and slow. Only recently have my investments pick up speed, making me realize that it can be a key to financial freedom. I only discovered Biggerpockets in 2020. But I was doing house hacking (not even knowing the term), OOS investing, and these other strategies. At 24 years old (Sept 2006), I purchased a condo in Queens NY with some funding help from family and rented out the 2nd bedroom while I was living there. At 32 (2012) I moved to the Boston area but kept the condo to rent out. At 35 I cashed out refinanced 100k from that Queens condo to buy a loft-like condo above restaurant in trending area. At 38 (2018) I 1031 exchanged the Queens Condo into 2 multi-families in Worcester MA. When price points were getting too high, at 39 (2019) I started investing in the South Atlanta suburbs, where I now have 7 SFH.
