Greeting BiggerPockets community. I have just decided to get back into real estate investing and am grateful that I stumbled upon this site. I have some prior experience investing but I was younger and fell into all of the traps that a lot of people did before the great 2007-2009 bust. At that time I had a couple of SFR's and a couple of Multi's but was grossly over leveraged, had no idea what I was doing, and did not do my own due diligence. I ended up foreclosing on all of them, ruined my credit and spent the next several years licking my wounds but now am back, and fully believe that real estate is the path to financial independence for myself and my family.
