My passion for real estate started when I was little and my grandparents would tell stories of how they used to buy real estate at auctions and how without their real estate investments they would have never been able to retire comfortably. When I turned 16, my grandmother and I would drive around looking for land that is for sale. I didn't want my money sitting in a bank earning no interest so I thought if I found a cheap piece of land I could hold my money there. I didn't end up buying a lot but a few months after a graduated from college I purchased my first multi family to house hack. Using an FHA loan, I moved into one unit while renting out the other. I graduated with a degree in Finance from Quinnipiac University and currently work as an analyst in the media industry. I live on a very modest budget which has helped me to save and continue to buy one property per year. With this strategy, I will hit my freedom number before I am 30 and will no longer have my 9am-5pm (more like 8am-6pm) or have to say "I work for..".
