16 consecutive semesters (8 years) of my life was spent as a full time college student to end up with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Alfred State, Dual Master of Urban Planning and Master of Public Health degree from the University at Buffalo and an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Sustainability, also from UB. After all that time I realized that real estate is where architecture, urban planning, public health and sustainability overlap. Its also an industry that moves relatively quickly towards action opposed to making plans that sit around without sufficient implementation. My goal is to use my unique combination of education and experience in the real estate industry to improve the places and lives of people with whom I choose to work with. My education in financial literacy began in my second year of undergrad when a friend of mine gave me access to Robert Kiyosaki's famous book, "Rich Dad, Poor Dad." In the summer of 2017, I interned at a large architecture and engineering firm in Rochester, New York and as I observed the life trajectory of my coworkers I knew that this wasn't the life for me. Not only did I realize that the typical 9-5 office job wasn't for me, but also suburban car-dependent life, only working for someone else, and the current practice of architecture all just don't make sense and aren't sustainable. It is my hope that being a part of the bigger pockets community will help me on this journey and that I may be able to help or inspire others as my knowledge grows.
