As for REI experience, I purchased a triplex in 2016 with a VA loan that I house hacked until 2019. I made some modest improvements, and increased the rents to market value to make it a fantastically cash flowing property. I have learned a lot so far, enjoy getting my hands dirty and applying a lifetime of acquired knowledge, and constantly learning and refining new home repair skills.
