I bought my first two properties as a young twenty something, which I rehabbed while living there and sold both for a healthy profit, but that was about 25 years ago. Since then, I have concentrated more on my full time career, but have always been intrigued by Real Estate and the potential of using it as a wealth building activity. I currently own one property in Lansing Michigan which is being rented to students of MSU, my first true investment property, in addition to my full time residence here in Fenton, MI. With this new property in Lansing doing reasonably well, I am now interested in expanding my real estate investing into the flipping area, but as most of my money is currently tied up in the property in Lansing as well as my current home, I am looking for opportunities that involve low or no money down. Having rehabbed two homes and being a long time homeowner, I am a fairly accomplished Do-It-Yourselfer, but I am also much older now and not looking to do as much myself as to use my knowledge and partner with a good contractor I can trust and rely on to complete the vast majority of the renovations required. If successful in my first couple of ventures in this area, i would love to move into doing this full time in my retirement. I am just beginning my research and know that I have a lot to learn before diving in head first, so I will be taking my time and learning more on how to find and evaluate properties, how to find competent, reliable contractor partners, how to properly estimate needed repairs, among many other topics that will be needed to ensure some success. I feel strongly that networking opportunities within my local area would also represent an important role in the educational process as well and would welcome any contact with others in the area that have some experience flipping houses in the Mid-Michigan area.
