My journey into real estate investing is a tapestry woven with resilience, faith, and an unyielding passion for building dreams. Inspired by my pastor, Overseer LaTonya Heyward, whose wisdom illuminated the transformative power of investing in properties, I found myself captivated by the endless possibilities within real estate. The allure wasn't just in the bricks and mortar—it was in the vision of a house with a huge kitchen where families gather to create memories, and a spiral staircase symbolizing the ascent to new heights. This vision has been a guiding light, fueling my desire to not only build homes but to craft spaces where life unfolds beautifully. Since embarking on this path in June 2021, the journey has been both challenging and enlightening. Just three months after completing my investor training, life presented a daunting hurdle: I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. The illness forced me to pause and fight a different kind of battle. However, this detour only strengthened my resolve. Emerging from that period, I was met with setbacks—broken trusts, financial losses, and deals that slipped through my fingers due to betrayals and scams that even involved federal investigations. Each setback was a lesson in perseverance. They tested my spirit but never extinguished the fire within me. My interests in real estate are diverse and driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact. I am passionate about Fix & Flips, Wholesaling, Buy & Hold strategies, Rentals, Vacation Homes, Airbnb’s, Nurses' Residences, and College Housing. Looking ahead, my long-term vision includes owning youth facilities to provide shelter and education for homeless young women with children. This endeavor is close to my heart—I aspire to create a haven where they can build a foundation for a brighter future. While I haven't sealed my first deal yet, and despite the hurdles—including substantial financial losses and moments of despair—I stand firm in my commitment. The road has been rocky, but each stumble has only fueled my determination. I am not a quitter. The challenges have honed my skills, deepened my understanding of market trends, and prepared me for the successes on the horizon. Beyond real estate, my life is a tapestry of faith, family, and service. I am a proud single mother of three, with a loving family that includes five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. After dedicating 26 years of service to the City of New York, retirement opened the door for me to pursue my true passions. My faith anchors me—I am deeply involved with my church community, working with the youth, supporting women and children in shelters, and reaching out to feed the homeless. Cooking brings me joy, and in the moments I carve out for myself, I look forward to embracing activities like mini-golf, visiting the firing range, skiing, and even boxing. My story is one of unwavering persistence in the face of adversity. Each obstacle has reinforced my belief that setbacks are setups for comebacks.
