I’ve been fortunate. Fortunate to have spent a good part of my life around Real Estate and Business, but even more fortunate to have met some extraordinary people along the way. Those relationships have probably taught me more than anything else. I’ve had the privilege of being around everything from complicated real-estate and business situations to the very simple ones. Big companies, small companies, people buying, people selling, people building, people trying to figure out what comes next. Somewhere along the way, I learned that there is almost always more to the story than what is sitting on the table. That’s what I enjoy—the conversation, the questions, the problem-solving, and finding the possibilities that may not be obvious at first. And whether it’s 20,000 employees or one person with a good idea and more determination than money, I believe two things matter enormously: Relationships and excellence. Treat people well. Tell the truth. Listen. Keep your word. Do the work well. Then try to do it a little better the next time. I like thinking, too. Asking the question underneath the question. Looking at something from another direction. Understanding what is, while still being willing to imagine what it could become. I’m grateful for the people I’ve met, the things I’ve been allowed to be part of, and the opportunity to keep doing meaningful work with good people who care about doing things well.
