Experience: Hello, my name is Eric. I am currently an active duty military officer stationed in Columbus MS. As far as experience I have two houses, both using the VA loan. I am currently renting out my house in Birmingham. I initially came into investing on the stocks side. Large cap growth, ETF's, pretty much anything long term investing was my thing. I recently got married and brought the book Rich Dad Poor Dad on my honeymoon. Ironically my sister had given me that book some 15 years ago when I was 12, boy I wished I had read that then. That book changed my thinking. From there I read Brandon Turner's book, The Book on Rental Property Investing, and now I am here. I have listened to many of their podcasts as well and I am eager to learn more. Real Estate Goals: As for my goals... Right now my wife is completing her masters to be a Nurse Practitioner, which puts us in a holding pattern as far as looking for new purchases. Ultimately we are looking at the goal of owning 4-5 properties. With us having our first and second house on the VA loan, and hopefully renting out this second one when we move, we would use the FHA loan to purchase a 2-4 unit apartment at the next base we move to. Currently Seeking: At this time I am not seeking much in the sense of property but rather knowledge. My goal is to by this time next year, or roughly April of 2019, have another property in the Birmingham area.
