Rental Property Investor
Hello, my name is Erik and I am a new investor from Honolulu. We were first introduced to the world of buy and hold real estate investing in 2016 after my wife found a 4 plex on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. From the experience, we learned a great deal from the purchase as well managing the apartment. It was great to know that we are providing a great home for our tenants but also that they were making payments each month toward our mortgage each month, and helping us make for a better future. It was from here that my wife and I realized that we were hooked. We started reading as many books as we could: Rich Dad Poor Dad, the Book on Real Estate Investing, the Book on Investing in Real Estate with No (and Low) Money Down, the and listening to the Bigger Pockets podcast. I've listen to almost every show, and for some shows, I listened over and over especially if there are concepts I wanted to learn and carry out in our real estate journey. We wanted to live the extraordinary life of replacing our incomes working as nurses in the hospital. We envisioned one day, leaving the bedside, so that we can spend more time with our children and traveling the world. The problem is that there are very few deals in Hawaii. You can't house hack, so we lived at home with our parents in order to save money so that we could acquire more properties. We have to look elsewhere in order to find deals and to places where we have friends and relatives so that we can have an unfair advantage in order to get into different real estate markets that are much more affordable than Hawaii. I read the David Greene's book Long Distance Real Estate Investing and suggested it to my wife. Through Bigger Pockets, I'd like to learn more and make connections so that we can Take Action!
