It all started when my successful cousin asked me, "So what are you going to do with your life, Ethan?" I thought about it for a moment, and then mentioned something about going to school. After giving him a very vague and unsure answer, he told me to "self educate" and "Find a lucrative way to make money." ...And then the conversation ended. Over the next few days I spent a lot of time pondering about that conversation we had; what he said, what I said, and what I felt. At this time I was currently working a day job at a call center for $12.50/hr. A job that would soon be ending (within weeks) as the office was closing down. I believe that conversation was a pivotal point in my life. Up until that point (probably a few months) I had been exactly what my response to my cousin's question was: unsure and vague about my future. I had recently gotten engaged and was realizing that my youth was ending. I would often feel a shimmer of sorrow every time I heard or saw someone that had made great achievements. I would think, "Well good for them. I wish I could do something like that." Or even worse, "I'll never be able to do that." I think I was almost in a state of minor depression. After that conversation with my cousin, and a few more days of pondering, an image popped into my mind. "I want to be successful." This stuck to me like glue, like nothing else ever had. Every day I couldn't help but to hear those words. It was like there was a separate being inside my head speaking this to me, over and over, and eventually it became "I will be successful." I achieved success the moment that popped into my head. It gave me ambition. But it didn't stop there and has been reoccurring ever since. It hasn't changed to "I am successful," or "I want to be rich," but is still "I will be successful." I really wasn't thinking about money, just success. I wanted to be like those people I thought I would never be like. Currently I am a representative for Charger Title in Orem, UT. You can find me at all of the local REIA meetings. Feel free to ask me any of your title related questions.
