My wife and me own a small ecommerce business in Los Angeles area, selling toys online full time. Business was good for a few years, but now it's gotten a lot more competitive. I foresee more competition, lower margin, and the need to be more technology savvy for the future years. As a result we started to look elsewhere to invest and focus. Real estate seem to be a good alternative to build portfolio income. We find homes in southern Califonia to be very high priced, which makes cap rate low and harder to start. So we started looking out of state, we think there is a much better chance to become financially independent as a landlord in areas such as Portland, OR; Orlando, FL; Dallas, TX area.
