Hello BP Community! First invested in real estate in 2003 by purchasing a MFH in NY. Increased RE portfolio to 5 MFH hold and rent properties within the same area by 2006 by leveraging equity from previously purchased properties. Lost all but 1 (primary residence) between 2007 and 2010. Lack of understanding (real estate investing basics), focus, property management, and "nice guy" syndrome cost me my entire portfolio. After almost a decade out of the game, took a step back, listened to a good 10+ BP podcasts (still listening), read numerous other BP blog posts (still reading), quieted the voice of fear (still quieting), and am now looking to re-enter the real estate market. I am now partnering with a seasoned NYC realtor to invest in fix and flip projects in Newark, NJ. Looking to engage/network/build with a solid team of real estate investment professionals that are excited, motivated, and dedicated to all things real estate. Also looking for a mentor who is willing to provide much needed guidance and advice on projects undertaken. Embarking on a journey to re-establish my dream of financial independence through real estate!
