I'm Hunter Foote, PhD, founder of Vanderburgh Sober Living and The Vanderburgh Foundation. I have interest in sober living and residential assisted living. Since 2016 I've been building a platform that helps independent owner-operators open and run structured sober living homes. We're now in 30 states. My own work covers site acquisition and renovation planning, zoning and use classification, state certification, long-term lease structuring with operators, and the systems and training that keep a house full, compliant and solvent. What I actually know well, and am glad to answer questions on: what it really costs to convert a single-family or small multifamily into a compliant recovery residence, where the zoning and Fair Housing arguments land and where they don't, how certification bodies differ state to state, and which unit economics hold up versus which ones only work on a spreadsheet. If a competitor's resource answers your question better than mine does, I'll say so. Outside of work I sail, dive and hike, and I've spent time in more than 20 countries.
