Ian Smith

Experience: In 2001 Ian Smith moved from Pennsylvania to Baltimore and immediately fell in love with the energy and diversity of the city. The charming neighborhoods throughout Baltimore and surrounding areas are the reason he remains today. He's lived in many neighborhoods in the city and county - Little Italy, Patterson Park, Fells Point, Cockeysville, Hunt Valley, Charles Village, and finally after spending 12 years in Federal Hill he now resides in Parkville with his wife and two children. His introduction to real estate began at a young age. His father was a land surveyor - sometimes buying large tracts of land to subdivide and sell or sometimes develop and sell. He even named a drive after Ian from one of his projects! His father's passion for 18th century structures and inherited artistic ability set him on a path that has given him an elite reputation in the business for historic preservation and design work. Ian sat beside him, took mental notes and even got his hands dirty dismantling historic buildings to preserve materials for future projects. Some of the enthusiasm his father had for his work rubbed off on Ian. He began investing in real estate when he was 27. He acquired an historic property in Carlisle, Pa that he did some renovations to, got it rented and it continues to be a profitable investment. A couple years after that Ian bought his home in Baltimore, which needed a complete renovation. He really got his hands dirty with this one and learned a lot. Professionally he worked as a loan officer for a short time learning financing. Now he's ready to turn that dabbling into a full time career.
