Soon after my wife and I got married and graduated, we quickly realized the "real" world means fulfilling other peoples goals; or even worse, delaying ours! Now, we are on the path to financial freedom through paid off debt, making wise investments, and managing our cash flow. Experience: We rehabbed and flipped our first house together by using rent from the spare bedroom to pay for the projects along the way. Have helped my parents rehab half a dozen properties including an over 100 year old grain elevator that is now a 6 unit apartment building. We just finished our most recent live-in rehab. This time, pulling out the equity through refinance rather than selling. Now, we are ready to set the next cornerstone in our investing foundation. That could be small multi-families, partnerships/syndications, or even agriculture and land! Real Estate Goals: Our end goal is financial independence through real estate income. Short Term (2018) - Acquire our next property and learn from wise mentors. Ideally, we will soon be in the small multi-family space, but we may need a couple SFRs under our belt before we upgrade Long Term (2023) - Control 50 cash flowing units and venture into larger syndication deals. Currently Seeking: Our previous thought process was to find a multi-unit to purchase as an owner occupant and move to a primary residence to fix-up and refinance to pull out the equity for the next property. We looked at many, made offers on a few, but they all fell apart during negotiations...so we skipped that step and went straight to the refi part of the plan! Now (Jan 2018), I am scratching my head trying to determine our next move.
