I recently purchased my first home using a VA loan, since I am currently deployed with the US Coast Guard I was able to fulfill the residency requirements by having my wife move in while I am away. I plan to buy another home within the next year, probably as a rental. We also are planning on experimenting with Airbnb in our home and take vacations while we rent it out short term. I plan to take what I learn and gradually grow a real estate portfolio that will allow us to earn enough passive income to retire by the time I am 45.
