My wife and I are in the self-education phase of becoming real estate investors. In December 2018, we began contemplating investing in real estate as a strategy for financial independence. It was not something we envisioned doing, but are increasingly drawn to and excited about. We plan to buy our first investment property later this year. I am a college professor. I love learning, researching, and teaching. I have no intentions to leave my career, but see considerable overlap with what I teach (i.e., economics of education, financial literacy) and what I am (will be) learning from real estate investing.
