James Murphy

I am a residential real estate investor, landlord, and REALTOR® with Fathom Realty serving Greater Boston. I help people make smarter real estate decisions by helping them understand their options, avoid costly mistakes, and choose a path that fits their goals. I have been a real estate investor and landlord since 1996 and bring 30 years of corporate finance leadership experience with multinational companies. My primary focus is 2–4 unit residential investment properties in Dorchester and surrounding Greater Boston communities, while also advising buyers, sellers, homeowners, and investors on residential real estate decisions. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Bentley University, a Master of Business Administration in Strategic Management from Boston College, and a Master of Science in Real Estate Development and Investment from the New York University Schack Institute of Real Estate. I have also earned REALTOR® designations and certifications including GRI, SRES®, CIPS, RENE, PSA, HFR, Real Estate Investing, AHWD, MRP, RSPS, SFR®, and e-PRO®. These credentials support my work in negotiation, pricing, market analysis, finance, investing, technology, senior real estate needs, military relocation, diversity awareness, short sales, and international real estate.
