I have been involved with real estate since 1994, when I bought my first rental property while I was in college. During my career in the games and software industry, I continued investing in my spare time. I used my paychecks and lines of credit to fund my deals. My investment and financial strategies have allowed me to take many mini-retirements since then. I have not had to work in 7 of the past 15 years. After my Apple Maps contracting gig ended in May 2017, I decided to make the transition to being a full-time real estate investor. What was the catalyst for my new direction? In 2016 I spent 5 months taking a road trip from Texas to Maine and back. During that time I spent 6 weeks in South Africa. I used 4 of those weeks to volunteer at Kariega Game Reserve. This experience changed my life. I now want to spend more time doing wildlife and conservation volunteer work. A traditional job will not allow me to lead this kind of lifestyle, but a portfolio of passive income streams will. I am currently focused on distressed properties in the Austin and San Antonio real estate market. I have experience with rentals, foreclosures, 1031 exchanges, note buying, hard money lending, lease options, owner financed acquisitions, condo conversion oversight, and multi-family investments. I am a Podio systems architect, automation specialist, and accountability task-master for investors looking to scale their business. I develop custom leads list cleaning software services for investors looking to get an edge in their market. I develop interactive business simulator training videogames to help investors practice domain specific skills.
