I'm an electrical engineer, and I recently moved to Atlanta, GA from Charleston, SC. I bought my first home, a townhouse in North Charleston, on a short sale, and it turned out to be a great purchase as I've gained about 50k in equity in just a couple of years. Thanks BP! I now own 2 properties in Charleston, one a long term rental and the other a vacation rental, and I'm looking for a home in the Atlanta area. Experience: I own two townhomes in North Charleston, SC. One of them I've been managing myself, and it currently has a tenant that has lived there going on two years. My other townhome was my personal residence before I moved. I rented out one of my bedrooms in that home on Airbnb for about a year before moving to Atlanta. Now I've converted the entire home into a vacation rental and I have a property manager managing that property for me. Real Estate Goals: I'm focusing on Buy and Hold investing, and I hope to one day own an apartment complex (or multiple). Currently Seeking: I'm looking for a home in the Atlanta area for me and my family. I'm looking in the Marietta area since my job will be moving to a new facility in Smyrna soon, and Marietta has great schools. I plan to buy a home that I can continue using as an investment on Airbnb, so I'd like something with a basement or an external building that can be converted to an in-law suite that can be used as a short term rental. I hope to soon be looking for another investment property (a single family or multi-family) that will cash flow. I would like to buy a fixer upper that I can put some forced equity into to sweeten the deal. My first property did not really need any rehab in order to rent it, so I did not really have the opportunity to add any equity up front.
