Jon Burns

I grew up on a farm outside of Chicago, and spent many years as a bond trader at the Chicago Board of Trade. I currently live in the great state of Texas (Katy to be precise). As they say, I am not from Texas, but I got here as soon as I could. My wife and I began investing in real estate in Oct. of 2011. We started out full time, so it was kind of a do or die decision. I often tell people that I went into real estate because I had no other marketable skills. But the truth is we talked about it for years before finally pulling the trigger. I have always been entrepreneurial, and have never held a corporate job. So as I began my real estate venture, my Dad (god love him) told me that I was rapidly approaching an age where I was going to be unable to ever be hired for a real job..so I had better make this work! Knock on wood, I am still here. As to how I found Bigger Pockets, well, I didn't. My wife discovered Bigger Pockets, and would download podcasts for us to listen to. Then one day she informed me that she had signed me up for an account and that I needed to fill out a profile. So there you have it, I think that covers all of the prompted questions.
