Hey everyone! My wife and I are two young professionals who live in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN) and are one deal into our RE adventure. We plan to focus on buying and holding small multi-family properties to generate passive income and allow us to do more of the things we love (spend time together, travel, etc.) and less of things we don't love (commuting to work, working for the man, etc.). We got turned onto BiggerPockets through another personal finance podcast- Listen Money Matters- and love the wealth of information that we've been able to find. Listening to my first real estate-focused podcast on LMM made me do a complete 180 on the views I had previously held about buying a home and opened my mind to the possibility of investing in real estate. In the past 2 years, I have gone from "buy as soon as you can, renting is throwing money away" to "renting makes a ton of sense until I can save up for a sizeable downpayment and know I'll be staying somewhere for a while" to "let's find a duplex ASAP that we can house hack with a lower down payment and start our adventure into REI." It's been quite the whirlwind. Outside of work and REI, we love to travel, spend time outdoors, try new restaurants and bars, spend time with friends, and do a little bit of nothing while sitting/laying on our comfy sectional couch.
