First love has always been Real Estate, obsessed with searching, looking, analyzing, buying and flipping. I went to law school, and hated the idea of sitting in an office being a lawyer. I was working as a corporate real estate department. When I found out I was pregnant with twins, I picked up and moved home and took over my family's small trucking company. In 2008/2009 economic crash, we also crashed and burned under debt and customer bankruptcies. We reorganized and continued to truck until last year when I sold my trucking companies. I still work in the industry but my side business has been real estate for past 3 or 4 years. My husband has a construction company Patriot Builders, and has been in the construction industry as a contractor since he was 24 (so 22years). He prefers to do new construction but Michigan is not awash with such opportunities these days, especially since we choose to live 1-2 hours from any metropolitan areas. He frames, does construction and when things are slow he works on my real estate projects. I would like our real estate, flips and multi-tenant projects to be a bigger part of our family business versus new construction which has been extremely unpredictable in past 7 years. Real estate has been my only hobby (other than family and children) and I'm loving it more and more each year.
