newbie Live in Lihue, Kaua'i, HI but invest in Greenville, SC. I'd see recessions come and go and wasn't bothered. But the 2008 GFC rattled me - I didn't want all of our retirement portfolio to be in stocks and bonds, so we decided to diversify.
