Keith Leckey

My name is Keith Leckey and I was born and raised in Johnstown, PA. My wife and I have been married for 25 years and still call Johnstown home with our 2 sons. We enjoy the outdoors and spending time with our family and friends. I came across BiggerPockets in my online research for real estate investing. I quickly found that it's a great community of other like-minded investors and an excellent source of real life investment knowledge, experience and advice. Experience: My brother and I bought our first duplex over 13 years ago and between the two of us have grown to over 60 units to date. I was able to roll my 401k from a previous employer into a self directed IRA and use that to invest in real estate also. As everyone knows, there are ups and downs, but it has been a great experience overall (my wife still thinks I'm nuts:). I'm looking forward to continuing to build my knowledge on real estate investments and hopefully help others out from my own personal experience. Two of the biggest things that helped me starting out was hooking up with another local real estate investor with tons of experience and plugging in to our local landlord association. Real Estate Goals: So far, I have only been dealing with local buy and hold properties. My goal is to continue to add rental properties to my portfolio as opportunities arise. If I came across the right deal and the numbers looked good, I wouldn't rule out trying a flip also. Currently Seeking: Knowledge: I'm always looking for other like minding investors to learn from and even partner with in an investment. Labor: I've got some great contractors, but it wouldn't hurt to add a couple more to my list. Funding: Traditional financing and utilizing a self directed IRA has worked well, but I would also like to find someone or several people that would be interested in short term (3-5 year) lending.
