In January of 2017, I read a real estate investing book which proposed setting the goal of purchasing a property in the next 12 weeks. Despite the fact that I was pregnant with our second child and that we were both working full-time, my husband and I were ready and excited to accept the challenge. We rented out the home we lived in, purchased a 2-unit property, rented one of the units, and moved into the other one at the end of March 2017--just in time to "nest" and give birth to a beautiful baby boy a few weeks later. Our current real estate investing strategy is to live in owner-occupied properties, rehab, rent and hold them. We are looking to buy and move into our next property. In the meantime, we have been exploring our investment resources and opportunities and educating ourselves with endless books, articles, podcasts and hands-on rehab projects. This is just our beginning strategy, we intend to grow our business exponentially as we gain more experience, resources and capital. Currently, I work full-time in medical education at the University of Utah. My husband, Landin, works full-time as a real estate appraiser. We have 3 beautiful children (age 3 and under!) that keep us on our toes. We love spending time as a family, being active, traveling, and eating good food.
