Hi all! I am a software engineer for the Navy, who is really looking to start the next chapter of my journey to financial freedom. As a result, I have a very good opportunity to widen my farm area to include from federal way and south to Olympia, and the Kitsap county area. However, as I begin, I want to focus on the areas spanning from Tacoma to Olympia. My desire is to own and rent out 2 multi family units in the next 5 years. My Short term goals are as follows: 1st year – 2 properties, each with a total project length of 6 months (including finding the property) 2nd year – 3 properties, each with a total project length of 4 months (including finding the property) 3rd year and beyond – 4 properties, each with a total project length of 3 months (including finding the property) I just recently began reading books on investment and at 30, finally realized the power of financial freedom. As I continue my journey to obtain that, my hopes are that through success and through failures and overcoming those failures, I can first achieve financial freedom and secondly, begin to be a leader in my community, educating and spreading awareness to people who are in distressed situations, as well as the youth about financial freedom. I pushed my way through college and I don't regret that decision one bit. I do however, wish that knowing what I know now, I could redo my financial strategies for paying for college. In a nutshell, the earlier I would have began investing for college with all of the interest that would have compounded over the course of 18 years, would have almost guaranteed that I wouldn't have had to pay a dime out of my own pocket for it. I will have known that I have achieved the level of success that I desire when I have attained the level of financial freedom that will have allowed me to do three things: 1) Offer scholarships to the youth and put them in positions to seamlessly transition to a life of success post high school. 2) I love basketball! I am a coach now for an organization based out of the military base that offers free training for students. The head coach has been running the program for over 20 years, and has a portfolio of students he has successfully helped get a college scholarship. He is very well connected with head college coaches all over the country and this year alone has gotten 4 students fully paid scholarships to play basketball. I want to be able to help grow that basketball camp, and reinvest back into local parks and after school programs to provide more opportunities for students. 3) I want to become experienced in pre-foreclosures and foreclosures. I heard a wonderful podcast from Chris Goff called "How to Invest in Pre-Foreclosures," where the mission statement was up front "We are in this business to help people." He focuses on pre-foreclosures and helps people get a second chance in life, helping them get out of preforeclosure and out of debt, and help rebuild their credit by investing in their pre-foreclosed properties (assuming there is enough equity in their property to make a profit at the same time)." I thought that was such a powerful statement and immediately inspired me for my long term plans.
