For more information about my work history and story, please see below: From 2009 to 2014, I bootstrapped my first sub-contracting company to take advantage of the growing opportunities in energy efficiency for residential and commercial properties. The highlights of this endeavor were: - Achieved profitability in our third year with no prior construction experience in a new market selling a new service in one of the hardest-hit industries of the 09’ recession: construction. - Landed contracts with multiple non-profits, city grants, and even a public utility for conducting feasibility studies for the implementation of energy efficiency from everything from mobile homes, Section 8 housing to historic homes in downtown Charleston, SC. - Certified and trained in every residential green building or building performance program and completed all certifications within the first year of starting my business. - One of the first companies to integrate tablets with an industry-leading software program that allowed us to deliver quotes and cost/savings estimates to homeowners post inspection/audit of their home. In the fall of 2014, our company needed to morph into a traditional sub-contracting company and consolidate multiple sub-trades (Insulation, HVAC, waterproofing) under one roof to be successful. Other entrepreneurs across the nation had tried similar strategies and failed or struggled, including a well known Bay Area company with VC funding from a significant building supplier. Additionally, funding for research projects had dried up. I had also tried to raise capital in Charlotte, NC, but the funding sources just weren’t there. Around that time, I had bought my first investment property, wrote a case study on the Ms. Pam Project, which would become the genesis for re-viv. I took the idea to a local developer, and he told me two things: 1. I had pitched him one of the most revolutionary ideas he had heard in a long time. 2. I had to find a way to pair my good intentions with market-leading investor returns. Hungry to be in a place where I could fuel my entrepreneurial dreams, in January 2015, I packed up my bags, moved to San Francisco, and founded re-viv: with the intent of revolutionizing the way we look at community revitalization projects. re-viv focuses on addressing the market inefficiencies of community revitalization through truly innovative solutions in the private equity investment and development space.
