I am the founder of Think and Talk Money, a personal finance website dedicated to professionals seeking financial freedom. I've benefitted so much from investing in real estate. I'm now sharing what I've learned in the Think and Talk Money blog. I own three small multifamily rental properties (10 units) in the same higher-end Chicago neighborhood. I also own a short-term ski rental in Colorado. I believe it's important to start investing in real estate while you still have a full-time job. I've built my portfolio and self-manage my Chicago properties, while working as an attorney in Chicago representing people suffering from mesothelioma. I’ve been a law school professor since 2011 and have taught personal finance for lawyers since 2021. The strategies I teach and write about are the ones I’ve personally used, and continue to use, on my journey towards financial freedom. One of my core philosophies is that talking about money is not taboo. We would all be better off if we spent just a little bit of time each week thinking and talking about our money choices. Could there be a better place to talk about money than BiggerPockets? I've lived in Chicago or the surrounding area my entire life. I am raising my family just outside the city. I am striving for financial freedom so I have the power to choose to spend more time with people who are meaningful to me, like my family. Likewise, I want to spend my working hours performing work that is meaningful to me.
