About myself

Hi all, I used work as the head real estate investing coach with Roofstock.com. At Roofstock, I worked with students in the Roofstock Academy program to help facilitate real estate acquisitions, both on the Roofstock platform and off. Having been a real estate investor for almost a decade, and having been involved in numerous transactions, from SFR to true NNN commerical properties, I have a well rounded background. This allows me to share thoughts, advice and insight with students such that they may learn from the mistakes of others, myself included. Being a distance real estate investor myself, I'm able to help walk students through some of the mental hurdles that come with the territory of distance investing. In addition to Roofstock consulting, I also do private consulting for those that want to take a deeper dive into real estate investing. I work with clients of all different backgrounds and experience levels; some have never done a deal and others are seasoned investors looking to break into a new market or niche. I got involved in REI about 10 years ago when my dad helped me purchase my first SFR with a personal loan from him. That started it all and since then have been working on acquiring properties like real estate is going out of style. I've been able to accomplish at least 1-2 deals/year since my first deal and have used all cash/private money to do so. This year, I've been able to put together 6 deals. They have all been small to medium sized multifamily deals, with a few of them being a mixed use buildings. I'm currently actively looking for additional medium to large sized multifamily deals in the Cincinnati/Covington, KY area. I JUST finished redeveloping a 20,000 sq. ft. mixed use building with 4 residential units and 4 commercial units into 15 residential units and 2 commercial spaces. During the project, I encountered 2 building fires, a worldwide pandemic, a 3 yr insurance battle and a shifty contractor. Most recently we purchased a house hack duplex in the bay area and lived in the bottom unit while renting out the top unit on a short term basis. We were able to cover about 70% of our living expenses. After about a year and a half of that, we moved out of our unit and purchased a traditional SFR nearby and now rent out both units and the property actually cash flows! I'm now focused on optimizing my existing portfolio and have sold off a few properties. I'm trying to do more with less so my mind is clear and available to spend more time with family. Send me a message if you'd like to connect!
